The Boulevard Kiss StoryBoulevard Kiss was developed by retired food chemist and now wood boat builder, Richard Lincoln who is co-owner of BrassWind Gallery along with his wife, Sheree lincoln. Both of the Lincoln's ride motorcycles and it is hard to find a lip balm that will stay on during a long ride. Sheree was always in search of the perfect beeswax lip balm and as a gift to her decided to create one that would meet her specifications. She wanted a lip balm that did not have to be applied so often; it had to be soft, not too hard or grainy and feel smooth, oh and it had to taste like vanilla. No small task. After listening to her requirements Richard set about creating his recipe and Boulevard Kiss is the result of nearly his first try. It must have been meant to be.
The African Butterfly Hair Clip Story
On a trip to Charleston, South Carolina, Sheree Lincoln bought an African Butterfly Hair Clip at an outdoor market for her daughter Amber, as a gift. The hair clips are made from two interlocking combs attached together with elastic and then hand beaded. They are comfortable and do not pull on your head. They also let you sit back in your chair or sleep in your clip because there is no hinged clip sticking out. Everyone loved the unique clip so much that the Lincoln's decided to try and sell them at the BrassWind Gallery. The hand beaded hair clips have been a great success. Each one is unique with wood beads, bone and horn bead accents and other earthy yet sophisticated bead work. There are also some clips that come with sparkly beads and bling. The African Butterfly Hair Clip is a patented item distributed by a company in South Africa. The Clips just came to the United States about 3 years ago. The are hand beaded by South African Women and they are part of the Fair Trade Agreement. When you purchase your hair clip you are helping women empower women. They are hand beaded by women and sold to women. The Amish Rug Story
The Newcomb loom that Jacob weaves on is called a Weaver's Delight and was built in 1943. It was previously owned by two different blind weavers! He selects the colored weaving material for the shaggy rag rugs from a large bale of trimmed end cut remnants from tapestry fabrics and chenille. Each stripe on a rug is from the length of one remnant piece. Jacob designed a special piece of equipment to stuff the fabric into the copper tubes that feed the flying shuttle on the loom. He weaves about three rugs a day and then his wife, Abby, ties the fringe on the rugs. Each rug is unique and vibrant with color. They are like jewelry for your kitchen or bath. They are a colorful and cheerful addition no matter what room you use them in. These rugs are heavy and will last for many, many years. |
